After a five month hiatus, I’m finally back…to inform you about one of my favorite foods: pierogies! So if you love pierogies as much as I do, then here’s a little history about them.
Pierogi is plural for the Polish word pierog. They are dumplings that are filled with mashed potatoes, cheese, veggies, and/or meats, and are either boiled or deep-fried.
It is hard to pin-point exactly where pierogi originated from, but it is said that pierogie came to Polish territories from somewhere in Eastern Europe. Pierogi came to the United States over a hundred years ago. The most popular pierogi flavor in the United States is potato and cheddar-which so happens to be my favorite also.
